Solved Atheros AR5005G Wireless Adapter not working - ML 10.8 Hi guys, I've been trying to get my Wireless Adapter to work for over 4 days straight by trying different methods I've read on Google. Its an Atheros AR5005G Wireless Adapter and I've tried various kexts and modified them (168,1a) countless times. I've reached a plateau where I can't do anymore variations. I'm hoping some genius out there has figured it out and has his/her AR5005G working.
I'd be really grateful if someone could help me out with this. I'm kinda new to the OS X world and I've read up on a lot of material but I don't think I'm understanding it too well. If any of you have a similar Wireless card and have it working or is a blessed-genius then please do help me. I really want this OS X to work and I've spent a lot of my time trying to do this. Alright, this is what you do: Download 1: Download the file: Extract it and install it using Kext Utility Download 2: Install it using Kext Utility Restart your Mac You should see your Airport Wi-fi icon now. Click to expand.This adapter is really old and frankly, I highly doubt it can be used in OS X Lion or Mountain Lion. However, it seems this adapter has been supported by AirPortAtheros5424.kext, part of the 10.5.x version of IO80211Family.kext and you can find a package with this kext, but even if you install it in the right location ( /S/L/E/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/Plugins), it's very unlikely to be useful since it's probably 32 bit only.
I think it's time to buy a new (and newer) adapter.
